Metal Sculpture
Over the years, T & D Cruickshanks Ltd have proven again and again that their blacksmith and light structural engineering skills can successfully be applied to the creation of unique pieces of art.
We regularly work in partnership with designers and artists to create custom metalwork. We apply our experience with a variety of metals, including stainless steel and corten, using them individually or combining them to create distintives shapes, forms and textures - just as our creative partners have envisioned.
Previous works include the 14 metre long Acceleration which is now sited at the Old Town Hall, Gateshead.
Acceleration and Counterpoise (shown below) were conceived and designed by John Creed as the result of a commission from Gateshead Council.
Fabrication and assembly took place in our Kirkintilloch workshops, just outside Glasgow, and both pieces were transported to their current location where they were installed along with a series of bespoke public seating units and litter bins.
